As your based in Bettws Garmon, its just over a mile up the road back towards The Snowdon Ranger Youth hostel.
If the weather is iffy and unsettled, then use the Snowdon Ranger path to the summit.
For most of its length, you are fairly protected from the elements, and its only when you reach the railway line and junction of the PYG & Miners track, that the prevailing weather will get you.
Once you reach this point on the mountain, its 20-25 min to the cafe and summit, so the weather has to be pretty nasty for you not to make the summit.
If the weather is nice, and your based in Bettws, then drive down the road towards Waenfawr in the Caernarfon direction.
When you climb the hill from the bridge leading into Waunfawr, take your second turning on your right, past the school.
This hill after two miles climb, will take you to Bwlch Y Groes, and its perfectly safe to park your car there in the large clearing.
You will see a gate straight ahead on the hillside in front of you, around 200yds ahead, and just before you reach the gate, the path leading to Moel Elio is on your right.
Cross your fingers for a good day, as the Elio ridge is a great outing, not very long, but the views towards Snowdon on a fine day, are magnificent.
As your based in Bettws Garmon, weather permitting, this would make a magnificent circular walk of around 9 to 10miles in length.
Good luck
