I am walking the first stage of pennine way tomorrow. Edale to Crowden. I've done a couple of circular walks up kinder scout before but never the full stage. You been on any good walks recently?

Which route?  The original up Grindsbrook or via Jacob's ladder?

It is 45 years this summer since I did the PW and boy did it rain the 1st couple of days.
There was no 'paved motorway' in those days (which from looking at pictures and videos there appears to be today) and hopping over bogs and gullies,  going knee deep in soggy muddy peat was very energy sapping.
Arrival at Crowden YHA was a most welcome sight.

Enjoy it

Yes - about 4 or 5 years ago I believe.
I guess that either means miles of detour for accommodation, or 'rough' camp somewhere.

Thank you I will. Its a shame thats closed. We are just doing first stage tomorrow so will have one car waiting at car crowden. Bet its much easier to walk with path than in the peat.

Hello and welcome. I imagine you're not far from the Pennine Way at Kinder. Just for future reference, if you walk the Pennine Way North over Snakes Pass road, the A57, the first hill on your left, Gathering Hill, has a plane wreck on the top. Its a B29 Superfortress, that crashed not long after the second world war ended. Its well worth a bit of a detour to see.
