Thank you richardh1905, shoe/boot fitting was top of the agenda!

We are struggling to get footware suitable to fit my wife. We are in Essex and want to find a shop that can recommend and fit her feet properly? I’d happily spend money on the shoes but the last pair we had advice on are still killing her with blisters.
I’m fairness she does have a low pain threshold but last weekend the shoes were okay but this weekend she had real problems.
Any advice on shops to visit, anywhere within a 2 hours drive, would be really appreciated.
These are the ones she wore this weekend for a flat river walk, only easy walking done so far. The North Face Women’s Litewave Fastpack Gore-Tex Low Rise Sneakers
Thanks.

Can't really help you with shops in Essex, I'm afraid!

My wife bought some perfectly decent lightweight boots from Lidl for less than £20; fine for light walking.

Hello and welcome from another Essex resident. For good advice for footwear it is either London where there is a wide range of stores to choose from or the Cotswolds Outdoors shops in either St Albans, Ipswich or Orpington in Kent where I have found the staff to be reasonably knowledgeable.

The only ones in Essex are Go Outdoors in Colchester, Harlow, Thurrock Lakeside or Blacks/Ultimate Outdoors in Chelmsford. With these shops the level of advice/fitting you get will vary greatly.

I have purchased from all these retailers at various times. Apart from London we are in the wrong part of the country as specialist shops are often found in the popular walking areas such as the Lake District.

These boots are made for walking.... so long as the rest of my body agrees
