Beacons in the Snow (With Pictures I Hope)
« on: 20:03:19, 15/03/19 »
Better late than never.  Now I have a place to upload photos to I can finaly write up a few trip reports with some snaps from my phone.

Best walk of the winter was a few weeks back.  An earley start from Cornwall had me slithering around the lanes South of Pen Y Fan by 08:30 am.  The way ahead looked promising.

After receiving a warning of icey driving conditions from Phil I parked up below Pentwyn Reservior and after donning boots and spikes set off.

I had joined with a fellow walker in the car park and after a brief chat we decided we had time to complete a clockwise route around the four main peaks.

I will let the pictures tell the story of the day.

Ok, after much hair pulling I think I finaly have the pictures up.  Though as Eric Morecambe famously said ,  not  necessarily in the  right order.

Some really beautiful photos there - the icicles near the start and those landscapes, especially the one with the mist drifting across the path, and the last picture too. Great stuff, looks like a cracking day's walking.  O0

No mist that day too cold.  Frozen spindrift.  That stuff stings. Had my goggles on for much of the ridge, as the wind wiped it up over the Northern edges.

Oh yeah, I've walked through that stuff a few times - not pleasant at all. Looks very atmospheric in the photo though.

There you go  O0  I guess I’m lucky I can fall out of bed and be in the central Beacons in 15 minutes, although I do tend to walk the more outlying areas myself. Great pics John and glad I could help albeit in a small way with the ice report lol
