Monmouth to Chepstow
« on: 14:41:52, 06/10/14 »
Anyone walked it? Done zero research, as yet starts now i guess. Friend who travels to Wales has offered to kick me out and pick me up. It was a walk he has been meaning to do but is too busy at mo so requested my appraisal.
Any info wil be greatly received.

Haven't done it but I know both areas and the Wye valley is a lovely area
Touching from a distance, further all the time.

It's part of the long distance Wye Valley Walk. Lots of detail on the net.

Thank you. I was left with the brief...make your way from one to the other...i'll do research...easy bit...then the hard bit....getting a pass from the missus! I'll try to convince her to have a weekend away with the girls somewhere.

Hi Baboon
I've walked most of it as part of circular walks
If I was doing it I would walk from Monmouth to Tintern using Offa's Dyke Path (making sure I went as far as Devil's Pulpit which is a little beyond the drop down to Tintern to enjoy the view). After Tintern I would stay on the Welsh side of the river and follow the Wye Valley Walk to Chepstow which I think is a much more interesting route than Offa's Dyke at this point.
Its all very pleasant anyway :)
Enjoy every sandwich

I've walked the Offa's Dyke from Chepstow to Monmouth. The route is challenging but provides some stunning views namely the Devil's Pulpit, but switching to the Wye Valley Walk will take you to the Eagle's Nest with views over the Severn Estuary and Chepstow.
You have one life, make the most of it.
