Fab walk around Huggate (East Yorkshire) today with my group. Sunshine, laughs, no mud, tea and cake.  What more can you ask for  :)

Long Distance Walks / Two Moors Way
« Last post by David74 on 20:06:19, 14/04/24 »
Hi,

brand new walker here. (Did a week of South West Coast end of last year)

I want to do the Two Moors Way this year, on my own. But, I'm a touch nervous as I keep hearing about a section across Dartmoor (Ivybridge onwards?) which can be difficult to navigate. I don't like the idea of getting lost up there at all. Can anyone here - who might've done it - give me some advice? Is it a confusing as it sounds on that path?

thanks very much.

We started off our St Peters Way route through Essex.
Left the car at Ongar High Street and made our way across numerous fields to the Village of Blackmore before leaving the Way and heading back to the car. Not the rolling hills of Sussex or the fells of the Lakes but just pleasant country side.
Several low passes by the twin seater Spitfire out of Duxford added to the enjoyment.

We did underestimate the strength of the sun through the vailed cloud and the combined breeze so have a bit of a red face and back of the neck today.

If, without logging in, you open the map on the website, the sub-window in the right offers satellite view but clicking on it, it says it is available with Pro.
Once logged in as a Pro user, if you have Topo mapping on, there is a different selection of sub menus below in the sub-window but, you as say, clicking on either of the two map boxes to the left, OpenStreet or OutdoorActive, will replace the sub menus below with a set that contains satellite view as an option.
If you have a route visible, flicking between the various options shows the same route in different contexts.

Do you get the "satellite" option with Pro?  If so, a Pro subscription will do.
I have the Pro+ so I can't tell.
Yes, I can get the satellite view as a "style", provided I've selected the OA map. That style doesn't show as an option, though, with OS (topo) maps selected.

Update:-

The styles available for the OA map are the same as the ones for the Open Street Map, so Satellite view works, for me, with that, too. Does this mean it works with the basic free subscription also (using that map)? Can someone with a basic subscription perhaps enlighten us?

https://www.outdooractive.com
with the Pro or Pro+ subscription, I forget which.
Pro gives me OS maps (and similar topo maps for other countries). If you have Harvey maps too, you must have a Pro+ subscription.
