Hello everyone. I've been advised to join the Forum by a mate so having taken a look at it all I've decided to join in.
I live in the Lakes, and have been walking the fells regularly since 1973, mostly on my own or with a friend. Let's be honest, I'd be daft not to get out with living so close, and there is not a lot else to do here anyway.
A few years ago I was asked by a local hotel owner to write a walking and days out guide for them to give to their customers. At the time it was just a one off project, but other hoteliers saw what I had done and asked me to write guides for them and now I am looking to develop the idea into a lifestyle business.
The guides I have written so far have been small throwaway ones, produced at low cost and aimed at the general tourist market as opposed to regular walkers, which is fine. I am also starting to develop an associated web site. It's early days yet, and very much a work in progress, and great fun to do.
It is fair to say that I am a plodder. I like to take my time, take a few photos, watch the wildlife and once on top of the fell linger a while. My favourite mountain is Bowfell, and if I could only do one more walk before I die I would probaby choose a circuit of Loughrigg. Or maybe Lingmoor. Or perhaps Silver How Ridge and Blea Rigg.
I have to say that having spent a couple of hours mooching around it, I like this forum. The people on it seem to be quite normal, unlike the total lunatics that feature elsehwhere. Or could it be that I am just a bit on the dull and boring side. Whatever, I'm looking forward to taking part.
