Hello Strider, welcome.  I hope you enjoy your holiday.   Which munro are you planning on climbing?   Good luck... I've been to Aviemore quite a few times, I love it out there and would love to see some photos if you take any..  O0

Thanks for all the replies :)

Dibble: I'm going to Aviemore first then Loch Ness, so weather permitting Ben Macdui/Cairn Gorm will be first - I've been reading up & it doesn't seem too much of a trial, a 4000footer with a carpark at 2000 :D

May also do Meall a Bhuachaille which is just behind the YH where I'm staying.

After that some of the hills in the Drumnadrochit area.

Lucky you!  I  climbed Cairngorm and then sat and looked at Ben Macdui!    It looked awesome...but I daren't go any further.... I hope you get good weather and would love to know how you get on with this walk.   O0

Well, the weather was generally much better than forecast, I only really got caught in rain on CG itself (and driving through Ft William on the way home)

And looking south from the summit - the clouds were quite low all around:

By the time I got onto Cairn Gorm the cloud base had descended:

The next day was a short circular walk onto Meall a Bhuachaille (an easy half day walk), this is looking towards the Ryvoan bothy at the start of the ascent:

Bynack More from the summit of Meall a Bhuachaille:

Later in the day, looking over Loch Mallachie towards both of the above:

Looks like fun! I'm off to Glenmore Lodge in early October for a week - my first time walking in Scotland...
I am just going outside, and may be some time.
