The easiest path to follow is the Brown Tongue route that I mentioned earlier.
Yes, I agree.

Here are two links to the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) website. The pages advise on routes up Scafell Pike.

Your latest post is starting to worry me a bit, tompy.

The map to get is the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL6, 1:25000 scale map for the English Lakes, South Western Area. Do you have a compass?

The easiest path to follow is the Brown Tongue route that I mentioned earlier. The Corridor Route is a bit more complex, and if you don't have your wits about you it would be possible to miss the start of it at Sty Head.

Thanks for your help. I have just purchased the map and a compass ready for our climb. I really want to do The Corridor Route so i am going to study the map and spend a lot of time researching so I am confident when we climb as i know the group i am climbing with will have done no prior research and will just turn up to climb.

Good luck Tompy - the tricky bit is getting on to the start of the Corridor Route from Sty Head pass - there are several converging paths here, and you need to descend quite steeply initially, with the cliffs of Spout Head above you to the left (East), before the route starts to climb, crossing Skew Gill (a short easy scrambly bit here). After that, the path is fairly easy to follow, although you do have to scramble DOWN a short distance before you traverse across to Greta Gill - nothing hard at all, though.

Once you come out at the top of Piers Gill, just keep following the path upwards onto Scafell Pike.

As I said earlier, I recommend Brown Tongue for the descent, pretty easy to follow.

Good luck, and do let us know how you get on  :)

. Can you deal with gpx files? I have a trace of the Corridor route.
