Good luck Tompy - the tricky bit is getting on to the start of the Corridor Route from Sty Head pass - there are several converging paths here, and you need to descend quite steeply initially, with the cliffs of Spout Head above you to the left (East), before the route starts to climb, crossing Skew Gill (a short easy scrambly bit here). After that, the path is fairly easy to follow, although you do have to scramble DOWN a short distance before you traverse across to Greta Gill - nothing hard at all, though.
Once you come out at the top of Piers Gill, just keep following the path upwards onto Scafell Pike.
As I said earlier, I recommend Brown Tongue for the descent, pretty easy to follow.
