I've been on the hunt for a pair of super-lightweight summer boots for a while. Just got some Inov8 Roclite 325GTX to try out: http://amzn.to/2vMoqVw

I love my Inov8 roclites (286 I think) they were great walking the Polish Tatras the last couple of weeks.
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

Berghaus Stronsay jacket (I'm starting to look like a walking berghaus advert) and a pair of Karrimor Anti Shock Carbon poles someone on here recommended.  28 quid new and posted from eBay.

Can't find the thread now but thanks to who ever pointed out the eBay seller for the poles.  O0

I was asking about them and Kinkyboots pointed me in the directon of ebay for those Karrimor poles. I bought a set. Quite good for the money!

Cheap chinese down oblong sleeping bag. Very happy with it. Have used it fully opened up as nice wide down quilt over the summer which I find super comfortable. It got unexpectedly cold on the hill last night so actually used it as a sleeping bag and was warm, and enjoyed the extra space you get from that shape.  Mine is 550g, packs to a ridiculously small size. Only had it down to about 10C as far as I know. Ideal for 2 season use.

Clip on windshield. Fits perfectly around those ubiquitous chinese pot sets: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Useful-Cooking-Bowl-Pot-Pan-Set-Outdoor-Backpacking-Picnic-Cookware-Supplies-Hot-/131641500741?hash=item1ea671e445:g:U6wAAOSwo6lWNE-Q - such a good fit it clips onto the pot for storage.

So with a cheap titanium stove it's created a cheap DIY stove setup that seems to work well in the sort of conditions I camp in. Much better than my previous foil attempts or those fold-up 7-panel aluminium shields they sell.

Clips under the edge of the ring on a standard gas canister, briiliant!
But £13, and 3 oz too  :-\ Guess I'll wait till there's a knockoff one in Poundland.

yes it's pretty outrageous for what is a bent bit of metal.

I think the weight is OK. Total weight of stove is c.320g including the cooking pot. Compared with a Brukit at about 460g it seems fair, albeit not as good.,

A little plastic encapsulated thermometer that clips onto the zlpper of my rucksack - at last an end to the question of "how cold was it last night" that I tend to ask myself when trying to judge how my sleeping kit has performed.

My stove, SnowPeak Gigapower, is 110g. Plus gas cartridge of course*.
But my 550ml (~ 1 pint) titanium pot & lid is 79g, which is less than the weight of the Optimus windshield @ 87g!

*Anyone else noticed that there's less gas in them now, 230g when it used to be 250g?
I always used to have a bit of gas left at the end of my 3-4 day trips, but last one I almost ran out.

The stove itself is 29g. And the 1 litre pot set cost £8 off ebay so not gonna be the lightest thing. But it is super cheap and the setup is windproof and the lid serves as a cup/bowl. I got sick of trying to come up with foil windshields etc and decided it was worth a few ounces to not have to think about the wind anymore. I'm too tight to pay for titanium pots and stuff. The only time those sorts of things come my way is birthdays so maybe one will turn up one day!

I tend to use the 100g canisters and they do me for 3 days - just.

I try to cut the weight etc and then ruin it all by carrying a bottle of rum or wine anyway!

Neilc, rum does not ruin anything! In fact it should be an essential and does not even count towards your total pack weight. the preferred rum for hiking is Woods.  O0

I agree on both fronts. And of course Woods is ideal for the weight-conscious as it's alcohol:gram ratio is high  ;D

That brings back bad memories for me. I did about 1/2 a bottle of that stuff back in the 90's and I was bed ridden hangover style for 2 days!

Nesty, I cannot believe you blame the Woods for that! Obviously it was something you ate!  ;D
