TR Kentmere 11/07/15
« on: 11:06:07, 22/07/18 »
The first trip report from our recent visit to the Lakes.

As always our desire to get as much time on the fells as possible saw the alarm set for 3.00 am and not long after 9.00 am we were booted up in Green Quarter, Kentmere.

Having worried about parking, when we walked past the Village Institute there were planty of places still available.

Strange, that has just posted while I was still writing. Probably operator error!

The incredibly dry recent weather meant that there was no problem cutting off the corner as we headed towards Yoke.

The route ahead.

and looking up towards High Street

We followed the path which contours round the head of the valley

Does anyone know why there are 2 Ill Bells so close together?

Looking back across the valley to the first tops of the day

Shipman Knott, the final top of the day and a rare photo of me. As you can see I am clearly taller than my son

A quick drink at Maggs Howe and then back in the car as there was still a fair bit to drive to our accommodation at Brotherswater Inn for beer, food and football.

Looks like you had a good day. I've not been on the Kentmere hills so thanks for posting.

It was a lovely day Richard, definitely worth a detour if you are driving in to the Lakes.

Thanks April. If you can see it why does he persist in thinking he is about 3" taller than me.

Thanks Karl, it is a lovely walk.
Perhaps that battle is lost, it is my daughter who is making me stand up straight now.

Great pics Ridge - I love the Kentmere Horseshoe - I first walked it a couple of years ago and saw one other person the whole way round.  Bliss.

Thanks, it is a lovely walk. We met a few more people than that but I think it was only 7 all day.
