The old turret marks the top of Bryn Du , from this small hill there is a view of the Moelwyns, Rhinogs, Nantlle ridge , Moel Hebog & Snowdon , a better view than some of the 2000 footers.

What an interesting report, thanks Tabbycat.
I knew of the story of the hound but had no idea the creator of Rupert Bear lived in Beddgelert.
I've marked your route down as a to do. I've walked along the the Aberglaslyn river which was really enjoyable but came back a different way.

Lovely lovely.
Is the statue new? First time I've seen that.
2 Hours 35 mins is an astonishing time for that course, for saying it includes the ascent of the Llanberis pass. Wow.
-
Nice one O0 . A favourite area of ours and we'll be around there this weekend again O0 O0
Cheers

The statue has been there quite a few years, its in a ruined building to the right of Gelert's grave, seems a favourite for the kids to sit on . Great walk for kids with the river & the faithful hound story & of course the ice cream parlour in the village, although seeing your two scamper up Yr Aran it might be a bit tame for them O0

Nah, we've visited the doggy grave, as part of the Cwm Bychan circuit.
It seems I was informed about the statue back then, too! ...
I didn't see a metal Gelert, is it in the hut near the railway bridge at the edge of the meadow?
I saw an 'interpretive board' in there but we didn't go in.
Middle daughter would have liked to have seen a metal Gelert, she was quite taken with the story.

Thanks for sharing this,I was in Beddgelert earlier in the year, love the place O0
I also didn't know about Rupert the Bears creator living there! I'll have to have another look next time I'm back in Snowdonia!

Enjoyed reading this TC.
Brought back some nice memories of a great walk I had there earlier in the year. I'm not a train spotter, but I enjoyed your shots of the steam trains... very very good! O0

very enjoyable read, and the photos were great

Thanks for the comments O0
We have had a few snow / hail showers here the past few days so the top of Snowdon is wearing her winter coat & is looking rather good from the village today.

Looks like good walking country, might try it out next week O0

Brilliant photo's of the walk. I think I might like to do that one, and we have half a mind to stop in Bedgellert next time we visit Wales. Gelert's story is also wonderful. Thank you. O0 :) :)
