Thanks for all the replies folks 
Around edale is a fab place to go and is a fav of our's. We like going in the crisp cold day's of winter when you can play on the ice going up grindsbrook which is a nice little easy scramble in the summer. Only been to a few other places around that area but the surounding areas provide excellent walking and exploring and in the warmer months there are a lot of good cheap campsites

We've not been that way for a while - Kinder that is. Last time was on a good weekend last autumn when we did a bit of the same ground that you covered ( report here). Shame about a bit of rain, though.
