Blencathra from Bowscale Fell - 31st May 2011

One of the things I like about this forum is the trip reports and more importantly the photos that come with them.
Every now and then some one will post a photo and I think wow, I have to go there and see for myself. Sometimes because of my circumstances it’s not always possible to get there, which brings me to the purpose of this post.
I would like to go to Bowscale-fell and see where Brandywell (John?) took this Photo.
I’ve looked at the maps but there is only so much stuff that a map shows.
So my question to anyone who has been up that way , what is the terrain like , it looks grassy in the Photo,  where is the best starting place (car parking ect), and which is the easiest route up there , when I say easiest route I mean is there a way up there without having to go over lose  scree / rocks ?.
I have no ambitions to get to the top of Blencathra (at the moment) but would dearly love to get onto (and off) Bowscale-fell.
And whilst I am asking, route up or down (doesn’t matter if it’s the same way up & down) but under 8 miles or so. (I’m feeling a bit wimpy at the moment)
Many thanks for any info ………Mick

I think that is the Early Purple Orchid.

I saw those along the North Downs Way on Monday and wondered what they were, so thanks Kev.

The first picture was really good too, those stone gateposts really draw you into the view.
