TR - Northern Mawddach Way 2-day backpack
« on: 19:22:33, 27/02/19 »
A continuation trip to our Southern Mawddach Way backpack of September 2018 to complete the trail.

The weather was far superior to the cautious forecast, clear skies and unbroken sunshine throughout, surpassing even the very warm and highly unusual conditions on our Langdale Fells backpack of February 2008. On this trip it was decidely hot in the middle of the day and we were occasionally praying for a breeze to kick in. Our previous record of 29th. February 2004 for the earliest butterfly was also broken, we saw several peacocks and other unidentified specimens.

Thanks all.
It certainly was quiet, once past the viewpoint above Barmouth there was hardly a soul to be seen, it's a little walked area but attractive.

Thanks again, superb conditions.
Those tussocks were very mild compared to many Welsh monsters we have fought over the years!.

That looks very tempting! The whole way is on my to-do list now.

As a matter of interest, did you buy the guide book?

@astaman - thanks very much.
@fernman - It's a good low-to-mid level walk, I'm sure you'll enjoy it if forearmed with the guide book. I wish we'd bought it beforehand, after so many years in god-forsaken parts of Wales we should know better!.

Very interesting and enjoyable trip report, vghikers.  O0  You got some fantastic photos and it looks like the "difficulties" were well worth it for the views alone. It's a shame to hear that the route is so poorly waymarked, I'd always imagined it to be a well-managed trail for some reason.

@adalard - thanks, the views were crystal clear this time and there is much of local interest along the way including old mine sites. I think it's often confused with the Mawddach Trail, a low-level multi-use route along the southern side of the estuary.

Thanks redeye, superlative conditions. We're hoping for more as we do every year, but maybe that was this year's summer.
