Delrin is a Polyoxymethylene I think. So naturally slippy.
May be to rough it up a bit to get a better mechanical fix.
Thanks  O0

Just sewn some tags onto the 'door' zip... all other zips have a short length of dyneema cord. Why not inner door zip? Could be an oversight by manufacturers..?

Okay, so is it stuff or roll? The silicone impregnated stuff is very slippy and doesn't seem to like rolling, so I'm stuffing, but I'm a roller/folder at heart. Just seems to me stuffing is more taxing on the fabric...

I'm a folder and roller, but I can see that with stuffing, you are not creasing the material in the same place, time and time again.

Just tried rolling again - it worked this time. Just needs practice...

I'm expecting delivery of the CF (straight sections) pole set this week...
My philosophy has always been to try and obtain the bit you want by adaption... adopt, adapt, improve, right?

So my local Wilko's have some child proof locks with (hurried shop measurement...) a 9mm ball end... reduced to 30p per pack (that's 4 ball ends... no, not bell ends...)
Under closer scrutiny (at home) with the vernier they turn out to be 9.5mm... doh. And no they don't click into the female bit... so I need to turn them down. Wish me luck ...

My pole set has been despatched!  O0
Some progress to report on the ball ends:
They mouldings are actually more like 9.8mm...

... and begin to be accepted by the socket without undue force at around 9.5mm, but I've taken them down to around 9.2-9.3mm (with a sharp knife - scraping away as you would new potatoes...)

Need to drill a hole centrally next...

Job's a good 'un - the plastic ball ends worked a treat.  O0
I went for threading the Delrin ends and tapping out the ball end (M5), but I think the thread is unnecessary (bit tricky to do as well...) - drilled and glued would be as good I reckon (if not better)

Straight sections now 28g lighter, though longer... and would need to be longer still to flex enough in CF to replace the main arch.

Need to work out max length I can stow with my small sack next... doubt I'll quite match their 'race weight' of 490g though, but there's potential to get it down to 510 for more practical use - ie. more substantial pegs than the titanium 'toothpicks'.

Neat job, Mick. I think that you are right about threading the Delrin ends being unnecessary - in fact it will have weakened them somewhat. Shouldn't matter on the end pole, but the hoop ends will be subject to shear force as well as compressive.

Have you read that book I suggested a month or so ago.  May make you feel differently about it all.
