Derwent Edge, Back Tor, and Lost Lad
« on: 13:28:14, 15/01/18 »
A winter walk I did on Derwent Edge just before Christmas. It's the only time I've managed to get out in any kind of snow so far this winter! Basically started at Ladybower and did Derwent Edge to Back Tor, and then back down to the reservoirs via Lost Lad and Walkers Clough. It was a really quiet day and think I only passed 2 people the whole way. The stretch from Back Tor to Lost Lad and beyond was virtually untouched. Just a solitory pair of footprints before I added my own.

Lovely snowy scenes Harry 8)   Your photos bring back some great memories for me; I'll never forget the Winter of 2010, January in particular, when the drifts at Back Tor were so deep & looked like this....

And at the top of Walkers Clough, there's a short steep-ish rocky section just before you reach the cairn where the signpost is.  It was a little hard to find that day...

A close up of the drift...

I haven't seen as much snow up there since! :(

This was the same rocky bit in January 2013...

Hope you didn't mind me posting the above pics!
