In the "good old days", I was given a map of Dartmoor so old even the paths on that had disappeared and I ended coming across a reservoir that had been built and filled since my map was published. Up until then I thought OS maps were the Bible when it came to finding my way around.  Since then I have discovered parts of them are actually speculative fiction, especially when it comes the PROW.  Heck, I have lost whole woods before now - once upon a time that sort of thing would have worried me.

For sale.
Hanwag Tatra II boots. Size 10.5 Uk, standard width.
Excellent and have had little use. Sadly I needed a wider fit boot so these have to go. They have been Nikwaxed so do not have the nubuck finish they came with. NOT Goretex lined, leather lined throughout.

I will post in the UK for the total price of £90.
Collect by arrangement, cost is £80. (Kendal, Cumbria)

Payment by paypal preferred but can be discussed to protect both parties.

Sounds like quite an epic vizzavona! I believe there's quite a fancy new path up from Loch Morag to Carn Liath now, and a "bulldozed" track (according to Walk Highlands) to Carn a Chlamain (ugh).

So long ago that it needed the subject of Southern Cairngorms to get me searching in my old logbook. :)
In December 1973 during the time of a three day week to conserve energy I headed into Glen Tilt on a wintery day to get to the two big hills in the Carn nan Gabher/Beinn a' Ghlo group having been to the more easily reached Carn Liath on an earlier occasion. For the next day to reach Carn a'Chlamain I headed down to a bridge crossing of the frozen river Tilt and headed out and upwards to get on a trail out to the River Tarf and used this as a handrail in the dark to get to the Tarf Bothy/Tarf Hotel ;)  for the night. Quite a lonely place to be with the wind howling around the building.
I recall going to the wrong entrance at first and quickly realised that there were no floorboards in the room.
Carn a'Chlamain visited on the following day. Very quiet on the hills with no other walkers around at the time.

I love the Lakes. I live in Kendal, on the doorstep. After 1st April we avoid much of the area due to the huge number of visitors, and turn our faces to the east, where it is generally less rammed. Personally I would avoid Wasdale on any public holiday. Just my opinion.

A local taxi company runs a minibus service (bookable) between the King's House and Glencoe viilage/Ballachulish which opens up more scope for accommodation. Pick up and return the next morning service.
