Sounds like another lyric (well almost) !
.... I know what I like ........
Only a hill but all of life to me, up there between the sunset and the sea.

Does it ever come to you in a moment of realisation when you are ...Riding the Scree  ?

Ah, those were the days.

In which case there is only one question - Gabriel or Collins ?

The Barranco de La Maimona, Montanejos

Six of us flew into Valencia hired two identical black Seat Marbella's ( Seat Marbella's are a sort of low spec Fiat Panda) and drove inland to the small town of Montanejos On approaching the town we could not find the road to the local Alberque el Refugio, where we planned to stay.

So we called into a local bar, It so happened that there was a Barcelona and Real Madrid (El Classico) footie match on TV. So the Bar was packed with locals. We had a couple of good spanish speakers in our group who asked the barman the way to the Alberque, he said it was complex and pointed us to a guy who said he would go home past it after the match and we could follow him.

We sat down ordered a beer watched the match, when Real scored the whole place errupted the Real fans lit white paper and ran round the room, then Barca equalised and the Barca fans returned the compliment.

Eventually the match finished and we followed our guide outside not a to a car but a DONKEY!!!!!!!

The penny dropped and we realised we had been set up, the locals thought it was most amusing watching the two matching black cars crawling thro the town following a donkey and gave us a big cheer as the procession set off.......very..... slowly.....

Variety is the name of the walking game for me................

Making the most of the foul weather we did a walk from Middleham in North Yorkshire up to Pen Hill then return back down the river Ure in Wensleydale.

Pen Hill is a grand little hill but as Middleham is a centre for training racehorses the real highlight is walking thro the Gallops watching the beautiful equine atheletes working out, stunning.......

I quite agree ...

Similar shot taken on gallops near Malton. So graceful & powerful.

I feel like I have been neglecting Wales in this post so hears a photo of my fave evening haunt in North Wales The Dinorwic Slate Quarries above Llanberis.

Its great for a walk or get the ropes out and do some climbing, even just taking photos cos the sunsets are to die for.

Great photos, this last one of a fascinating place to explore as Mrs BWW found when we took a day off from the usual routes and spent an entire day just nosing around, when I measured the route I found we had walked as far as some of our main walks.

Is it still technically a trespass or have the owners accepted the clear indications that exploration is rife.
