When I went up there it was bone-dry, but I bottled gaining the true top of the south stack.
The last move is quite committing.  I think also when you've gained a lot of height by plain old walking, up easy ground, to be suddenly presented with an airy scramble always gives an adrenaline dump that is hard to deal with.
You can be braver on scrambles that ease you into it.
(Though even then I wouldn't have bothered either on slippy, wet rock).

Nice to see it again (well, some of it).

I had a look at your report last night when I was looking for a good pic of the cobbler with no cloud. I found the one from mikes report that I added last. I have not been up for a while and the forestry is really growing back quickly. Thanks for checking the report.

AC  -  I thought the 'eye of the needle' was on the middle peak.
The south peak is quite difficult to get on to............
You had a good day anyway despite the weather.

You're right in a way although what you're refering to as the south peak is usually refered to as Arthur's Seat. I think it's classed as a climb to get onto Arthur's Seat.
Current Munro tally: 78 out of 282 completed so far.

All 190 Welsh Nuttalls completed.

Its only from local knowledge that I can comment. I know sometimes locals can call hills or ridge's different names which actually explains why Ben Arthur is better known as the Cobbler. Peakbaggers right you have a North and South peak or stack on the main Summit and you have a lower peak or stack to the south called Arthurs Seat. This again is only from living in the area and most of my knowledge of the area is passed from other walkers and climbers. Arthurs seat is also the name given to a famous hill in Edinburgh.

Love this climb, used to be based at HMNB Clyde so this was often an easy choice for a day walking. Glad to see that the weather up there remains the same!

Two blokes running up Benin ime looked like bootnecks. They ran past as we were going down in the col an they past us on the descent. Time of day build etc they just looked like royals.

I wouldn't be surprised bud a few flew past me and the wife when we were going up the cobbler

You're more than welcome mate. Anytime you are thinking on coming up give me a shout. Even yeti's can get past the border police nowadays.
