The one thing to bear in mind is that no manufacturer's own guarantee or warranty (regardless of how it's worded) can negatively effect or replace the rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Wondered where the best place to go to buy a pair of Altbergs and get them properly fitted?

I live in Eastbourne on the South coast, but I don't mind travelling to access boot fitting expertise.

I did think of Whalley Warm and Dry in Lancashire - but any other recommendations would be really appreciated.

I would recommend “Whalley Warm & Dry” in Lancashire. I bought a pair of Altberg’s (Mallerstang) for winter use with crampons, I’ve had them a couple of years now and for a very stiff soled boot, they are extremely comfortable and never had wet feet. My only criticism is they are a tad heavy.

The fitting is free, but the overall cost isn’t cheap if you throw in the correct insoles and socks, plus care kit on top of expensive boots. But they are quality and the fitting is equally as impressive.
I think I under went about 20 different measurements in bare feet.

I’ve also been to a podiatrist before my boot fitting and although she was good, the same information plus a lot more was revealed by the boot fitting.

Walking is the world’s oldest exercise and today’s modern medicine.

From personal experience I would also recommend Whalley Warm & Dry https://www.whalleyoutdoor.co.uk/boot-fitting-service/ who are an Altberg Premier Retailer cannot recommend their boot fitting service highly enough. The boot fitters working at Whalley Warm & Dry were trained by the Altberg factory staff.

You can find your nearest Altberg stockists here https://www.altberg.co.uk/stockists/ The Premier Retailers are the ones with red flags on the map and tend to carry a wider range of stock than others with purple flags although I can't vouch for the quality their boot fitting services. Regardless of where you choose to go to avoid wasted travelling time make sure you ring in advance to check that they have stock of the boots in the models and sizes you want to try.

I always go to Whalley Warm and Dry, wouldn't go anywhere else.  I have all my boots and walking shoes from here, always fitted well - never have any problems.  Excellent service, excellent fitting.  Best to book an appointment though, although not essential.  Closed on Mondays.
