Confidence Required
« on: 21:03:57, 29/08/18 »
Off to Climb Skafell Pike with my son this weekend.  Fancied finding an interesting route up.  Have chosen to head up via Skew Ghyll and Custs gully over Great end.  Our old friend Mr Wainwright, considered the latter not suitable for walking.  So I have invested a few bob in 30m of rope. Which my son can carry.  So win win. We should'be safe on the tricky bits.  Plus his power to weight is reduced.  Yes I'm a bad mad competitive dad. LoL.

Any one taken this route up?  Long time since I used a rope too.

Thanks Richard.   I had read that report amongst others.  Hence went out and bought a rope just in case. Spent an hour digging through the garrage today looking for some of my old climbing gear.  Hard to believe but it's 37 years since I last climbed with a rope.  Used to spend all my weekends climbing the local sandstone when I was a teen ager.  Work and 35 years of surfing took me way from the hills. Will be interesting to see how it feels with these slightly older bones in tow.
