Interesting article, I never realised it was an independent, thanks for the link.

It was run by the YHA until it closed in 2002. It re-opened again, as an indenpendent affiliated YHA hostel in 2006.
The new wardens, Suzy and Martin, are doing a great job up there. Supported by the Skiddaw House Foundation charity.
