Title: Getting from Ely to Bury St Edmonds

Hi  ,Im planning to walk from Ely to Bury St Edmonds once things have got back to normal.Was thinking of staying over at a village on the way and was looking at Worlington ,Mildenhall Cavenham and the like.I enjoy village pubs so plan to take in a couple.Can anyone help please with any routes ,is it indeed possible to walk that journey.Thanks very much in advance for anyone who takes the time to give any advice

Hi Lofty

your best bet would be to get an OS map of the area and study the rights of way then choose a route you prefer.  It looks pretty straightforward to follow the Hereward Way as far as Prickwillow then the north bank of the River Lark to Bury via West Row, Mildenhall, Icklingham and West Stow. About 30 miles mostly on the flat, could be done in 2 days assuming you're reasonably fit.  Check Google maps, street view and aerial photos for any sections that aren't clear on the map.  And good luck with it :)

As Strider says, fairly straightforward.  Can be done using footpaths, some road work.  48.8km
