Great nostalgia trip for me, I spent a weekend introducing a group of school leavers from Winston Green to rock climbing on that crag, my climbing buddy was doing a teachers training degree and it was one of his practicles. Then there was a wild group of wallabies and the youngsters we were teaching had never been out of the an urban environment.
The group not on our ropes were roaming free, and standing on the escarpment I had a birds-eye view of this street-gang roaming the countryside below, when they surprised a dozing wallaby, seeing an alien life-form the gang set of after it as if it was a rival gang member, but true to it country of origin, the wallaby not only had a sense of humour but also an extra trick in its pouch.
Letting the gang think that they had almost caught it close to a high drystone wall, it cleared it with a graceful and effortless leap, the gang ran straight into the wall.
I suppose today Pete and I would be held responsible for the resulting cuts and bruises, but that group of children went home in very high spirits.
Mrs BWW and I enjoyed a delightful 10.5 mile circular walk there about 5 yrs ago.
Thanks for the photos.
