BBC4 8 pm tomorrow

'All aboard the country bus'
No music or commentary just a bus journey across the Yorkshire Dales for 2 hours. Will either be very interesting or very boring I suspect! Should be lovely scenery though, I think it goes over Buttertubs Pass and through Ribbledale. Starts in Richmond

Really looking forward to this. Two hour real time trip from Richmond to Ingleton and without any annoying background music or commentary  O0

Gets a good write up in the Radio Times although that doesn't always mean it will be  ;D

Oh, oh, ohhhhh, there was a topic somewhere about a Dales info film.  I don't think this one will be the one he meant but he might find it interesting all the same.  Hope he logs on and spots your post  :)

oh, if I record this I could then sit in front of it on my exercise bike or treadmill and have a 2 hour cycle/walk through the Dales lol

I like your thinking.

All set to record here too, though it turned into one of those epic things as had to retune beeb4 after the olympics, which then wiped everything I had set up for my holiday next week. Oh, well, I now know how to use the system a bit better than I did before! ::)

The bus with the big camera on the roof went past me when I was in Simonstone back in June.  Perhaps I will be on the telly!

Hi Mel, that could have been me - asking about a PIF from the 1970s. Lots of responses but still no closer to finding out whose music was used.
I'll be watching this though.

Yorkshire Dales NP - 1970s public information film (PIF) - Do you remember it ?

Well, I enjoyed that  :)   an added bonus was that my local Church bells were ringing for the first hour - seemed very fitting somehow  :)

Looking forward to the Dales Meet in October now  O0

Sounds similar format to a programme of a trip through Lapland(?) by reindeer sled which was very peaceful and lasted hours too.
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

There was one on the Kennet & Avon canal a while back. It was lovely - bit slower than the bus though (not seen the bus one yet - should I?)

And who remembers round britain whizz, which was exciting for me, waiting to get to our bit,  as grew up on the coast. Bit quicker than the bus, I imagine.

If you're a Dales lover like me it is worth watching if you've got a few hours to spare on a wet weekend.  For anyone who doesn't know the Dales I think it would be a bit boring to sit through the entire programme.

Well, I've only been there once but another visit is certainly on the cards.
