Depending on the weather and ground conditions I'm hoping to go up either Moel Hebog or Yr Aran this weekend, maybe both with a nights camping in between.

Fingers crossed I'll get up my first hill of the year, been itching to get up there for weeks but the weather has had other ideas!

Second that!
This weekend orienteering event on Mendip on Saturday (it's a great sport for any of you map obsessed forumites!)
Then Sunday first long walk of the year from Chepstow to Tintern and back. Been years since I last walked this route so really looking forward to getting out. Got some new boots to try out too :)
Enjoy every sandwich

I'm popping across to the Lakes as usual on Saturday and I'm hoping to do Raise Whiteside and Helvelyn from Stannah if the cloud isn't too low. I get fed up of walking in low cloud - you just don't see anything (and my fringe gets damp, it just WON'T stay tucked into my hood). If the cloud is too low I'm going to do High Rigg instead. Sunday I'm off to Corbridge and I'm hoping for some sunshine!

Staying local.

Doing about 11 miles Sunday, taking in parts of the Wanderlust way in north east Lincs.

Mud notwithstanding, it's fairly level walking, with just one ascent, and thats not a huge one. Rest of it is a nice mix of field and woodland, and some farm tracks.

Nice walk though.

I have the day off tomorrow, the forecast looks good - best in the east. I'm going for a walk in the Peak District, the Mam Tor ridge above Castleton - not done that one for years.

Lovely... used to be my training walk! At least once a week...
Setting off up Cave Dale? Free parking up by Treak Cliff Cavern.
Enjoy!

This is the route I have in mind...

From Castleton, follow the river to Hope...up to Lose Hill, ridge to Mam Tor, Windy Knoll, Oxlow Ho to the Limestone way, descend to Castleton.

Dent upto Green Lane then along and up Whernside, back down passing Whernside tarns then joining the dales way along the river back to Dent.

Well I've just committed myself to another walk in the Lakes this summer so I'm on the hunt for steep "training" hills near me and came across the High Hunsley Circuit which links into the Yorkshire Wolds Way.

If the weather tomorrow is anything like it was today - I'm gonna give part of that a bash cos I've just found a nice 5 mile loop around Drewton Wold with what could be a potential tiny little scramble at St. Austin's Stone  O0

Well the forecast came up trumps and I enjoyed my walk in The Peaks, and the weekend's not not over for me - I have the day off tomorrow aswell.

I'll spend the evening deciding where to go for the day, thinking about the Shropshire Hills - not been there for quite a while too.

Enjoyed my first hill walk since hospital discharge four months ago.  Had to be Moel Famau, up the easy way, down the steep way.  Perhaps not the best choice for a sunny Sunday - lucky to get a parking spot, the usual mass prilgrimage to the Tower.  Useful if I had had a problem though!   Good to find everything still works.  Just the muscles had got unused to the exercise.
