Just got back from doing a walk round Hounds Tor and Haytor. You are right Jac, those bluebells are superb. The woods on the east bank of Wimbleball Lake were also beautiful 2 days ago but not a patch on Holwell for quantity.

We got to Holwell Lawn for 7.30 am on Sunday, but we were not the first! There were photographers who had been there since 5am to catch the sunrise.

The flowers were beautiful, and we walked 6 miles, over the lawn, down to Becka brook and then up to Emsworthy. The bluebells there were not nearly as good - overgrazed earlier in the year. Then came back through the nature reserve. We saw roe deer and a fox close up, and many flowers.

By the time we got back to Holwell Lawn it was crowded with visitors.

You can see the GPS track and photos at:

It has been a good year again for bluebells on Dartmoor.  Holwell Lawn is covered at present - this is from this morning.
