Geocaching in North West Borderlands
« on: 11:51:34, 08/02/12 »
North West Borderlands is calling all grown-up explorers and junior adventurers…

This half term we have teamed up with Geocache (a worldwide game) to encourage families to rediscover the environment and explore the Borderlands.
Geocaching is a modern day treasure hunting game activated by GPS devices. The Geocache team hide the treasure (containers and its content) and is it then published with the exact coordinates so other GPS users can come on a treasure hunt to find it. Once you have located the treasure all we ask is if you take something from the cache you leave something and then log your visit in your log book.
There is also the possibility to win a range of prizes including a weekend away in North Wales Borderlands, courtesy or our partner Regatta.
There are over 4 million geocaches hidden worldwide, and locally there are, 1,452 geocaches hidden in Denbigshire, 1,488 hidden in Flintshire and 1,568 are hidden in Wrexham.
North Wales Borderlands have located 10 caches throughout 3 popular locations, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham.
The destinations are home to some of the most picturesque places in North Wales, including an award winning park (Green Field Valley Heritage Park), the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the last Welsh castle from the regin of Edward I.
Geocaching has already a wide range of fans from walkers, families and groups to young children.
This is the ideal family day out for you to come and rediscover the beautiful scenery and attraction NWB has to offer.
