Hey all :) I'm a student in the west midlands and looking for a part time job with a bit of exercise to it - personally I love walking, just don't have the time with my last part time job and uni work combined, so want to combine the work and exercise activity! I've been offered a place at a local to me but quite big trail and they've offered around £9 an hour and quite flexible hours. With the hours I plan to do during the week would this be worth it? According to this salary calculator I'd make just under £10,000 a year - however I'm wondering if I will need to pay national insurance or not, as I am 18 but won't be making a huge amount of money. What are the laws on this? Thanks in advance :)

Not sure this really is a question for this site, try reading https://www.gov.uk/income-tax and https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance but if you're only earning 10,000 you don't pay tax and possibly not NI.

For laws/legal stuff try here : https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance

Upshot is, if you're earning over eight grand and summat or other and over 16 then, yep, you'll have to pay National Insurance but you won't pay tax as the current tax threshold is just shy of £12.000.

Only you will know whether it's "worth it" based on your current outgoings and lifestyle.
