Brisk, not leisurely, walking cuts health risksScientists have found that daily power walks can reduce the risk of stroke or a heart attack by half, telegraph.co.uk reports.

While it's no surprise to hear that going for regular walks can help maintain a healthy physical condition, it would appear that it’s the intensity of the walk – not the duration – that really makes the difference in terms of lowering the risk of disease – that's according to a study by Danish scientists.

The health of 4 000 people was monitored for ten years to compile the findings, which revealed that those who walked briskly every day were half as less likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke than those who didn't. People who jogged daily cut this risk by 40%.

Hmmm.  But what is this life if full of care?  That we have no time to stand and stare?

What about the psychological benefits of taking things a bit slower and enjoying the journey?

If you’re stressed out (big contributor to heart attacks and strokes), surely a leisurely stroll in the countryside would be beneficial just in terms of relaxing and unwinding?
