I just bought a pair of Salomon Quest 4D II GTX Hiking Boots.  Was able to get a 20% discount so the price wasn't too bad.  I'm hoping to do a few 5-10 mile walks this weekend.

Today I bought a beanie hat and my first pair of poles - both Christmas presents from my parents  :)

Excellent choice of boot, may I ask where the 20% discount was and is ut still available?

Bhod - I bought them at REI in the US.  They have annual sales where you an get one item for 20% off.  My plan is to use them on the Pennine Way the summer of 2017.

Ahh thank you, bit too far to go even for a 20% discount :D.  Hope you are as pleased with your boots as I have been with mine.

I hope they have improved. I bought a air a few years ago - took them to a wet week in the lakes and they did not so much as leak as have the property of a pair of cheap sandals - they went back the day /I got home.

Mind you I am/was an Altberg convert, my last pair are completely shot and still waterproof, the replacement which have done about 1500 miles look new but are leaking. Altberg do not seem to want to know.

Walking up and down Steep Hill in Lincoln today popped into Blacks as their Black Friday sale caught my eye. I walked out with a pair of Peter Storm Ramble zip offs for £15.00 which I do not really need but they were the bargain of the day.

Sales like this are designed to catch mugs like me, and today it worked for them.

P.S. For those who don't know, Steep Hill is actually very steep indeed it has a 14% gradient.

Re: Salomon Quest boots. I too bought a pair a while back for a good price. I'm still nervous about them but so far they are waterproof. They are however supremely comfortable!

Bought a very nice pouch for my mobile yesterday, needed one because I dropped my last phone and the screen shattered.

What phone do you have?

You can get tempered glass screen protectors which are much cheaper to replace than your phones screen.

Daggnabbit!! In Lidl to get some bacon & mushrooms for brekkies when I spotted the latest gear today. Bought a long-sleeve thermal top for £3.99. Supposedly wicking and pong resistant, we'll see.

I have some of their merino base layers which I like so thought well why not?

Must stop buying things NOW.

Salomon GoreTex cross trail shoes for £39 in Bettws Y Coed.
It was surplus stock held over from last year, and up for grabs in their sale this afternoon.
As you could imagine, the stock did not last long, and only the very large sizes above size 11 hung around.

I bought a pair for a friend for xmas, and saved nearly £60 over the latest model.

Just goes to show the extreme mark up in pricing.
