Over the Easter holidays I traveled to North Donegal in the Republic of Ireland for two days hiking. It has been a few years since my last visit to the region and I decided to return to climb Loughsalt mountain. My favourite panorama includes an aerial view of lakes backed by mountains. Loughsalt mountain doesn't disappoint in this regard. I parked in a small car park at the foot of the mountain and climbed through heathery terrain to the summit which was gained in 45 minutes. At the summit I saw the Inishowen hills across Lough Swilly. To the east I saw the Sperrins in Northern Ireland but the highlight was the double lake panorama backed by the Derryveagh mountains or seven sisters as they are called from Muckish to Errigal. The descent was on a good path to the second car park at the far end of the lough. I returned to the car park walking by the lake before returning to the hotel. On the second day I climbed Mackoght and Beahy before walking along a beach near Inishbofin island.
