Hello everyone I'm lisa from Gloucester. Plan today was to go walking in Brecon but weather is awful. I'm new to hiking so any tips much appreciated  :)

Looks pretty grim around Brecon today but probably better than north-east of Manchester by all accounts!

Welcome from the Sussex coast     :)    I used to live not all that far from Gloucester and loved visiting the cathedral

Thanks Dovegirl and bigfoot_mike. I'm looking to come to Scotland in the new year so any places you'd recommend for walking would be great  :)

Hi Lisa - welcome from South Cumbria.

Aviemore/Cairngorms would be my recommendation for Scotland; plenty of low level walking in the delightful Caledonian pine forests as well as the serious winter walking on the mountains.
