Ennerdale - River Liza bridges
« on: 18:40:04, 18/02/09 »
I'm hoping to get out into Ennerdale next week starting from the Bowness Knot car park and taking in Pillar, Scoat Fell and Steeple by ascending via High Beck,Wingap Cove and Wind Gap.

In his book on the Western Fells, AW states there is a footbridge over the Liza conveniently situated for the start of this ascent but the 1:25 000 and the 1:50 000 maps I have of the area do not seem to indicate it along the river (between High Gillerthwaite and the Memorial Footbridge).

Can anyone with a better knowledge of the route/valley confirm that the footbridge is still there for this route or should I cross further east near the Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre?

Thanks in advance for any info.
