Off we went to the village of Brithdir near Dolgellau for a weeks R&R with some walking thrown in to clear our heads. It's been tough for us over the past year with my dad becoming fully dependant on us, eventually he decided on residential care just over a month ago so this break was to recharge the batteries.
As this is a walking forum I will just concentrate on the walks we did and keep the fabulous other experiences for our memories
We chose to walk Arenig Fawr, The New Precipice Walk (our version), Aran Fawddwy and had a bit of a recce in the Rhinogydd. I have added a few comments to the photo's, so although most will be familiar to those who know the region, we hope you enjoy. P.S. I'm no photographer so apologies in advance.
Arenig Fawr -
Bothy at Llyn Arenig Fawr
Swmbo takes a closer look
Llyn Arenig Fawr
Plodding up the path
Looking up to the top
It was a pain traversing across here
A bit of scree
All good fun
Memorial at the summit to some brave WW2 airmen
A summit pose
Hazy views
Way down from Arenig south top
I think this is Moel Lyfnant
I like looking at old derelict buildings and this is (was) I believe Amnodd Wen

I wonder what they mean?
Aran Fawddwy -
Cwm Cywarch
And again, there is a climbing hut nearby so maybe this is where they do their thing
Looking up with Creigiau Camddwr on the right, to the left and above is Glasgwm
The beginning of the mist
Camddwr
Over the bridge
Cool vein of quartz in the rock
More mist
Unnamed but cool anyway
Another angle
Having a breather
Looking toward Aran Fawddwy, this is a boggy path with boards over the worst bits
You don't say
Looking back the way the sign said
I love this terrain
Looking back as we get higher
Amazing views
Now that's a lump of quartz, there was loads about on this Aran
On the summit looking down on Creiglyn Dyfi, shame about the mist which had descended
We saw our first person all day who took this windswept picture of us, then he was off into the thickening mist
Descending now
Looking across to Crieglyn Dyfi
Foel Hafod - fynydd
Pieces of quartz in centre of photo, this was approaching Drws Bach
Cairn memorial on Drws Bach to an RAF mountain rescue member who was struck by lightening
Almost like the Beacons

Rhinog Fawr
Our lunch spot
Looking across to Clip (I think)
Definitely Clip
And that's all folks, we took over 400 photo's but there's only so much time in a day. A brilliant week away with plenty of walking and chill out time. It's back to the Beacons for us now, but we're already planning our next trip to the outer reaches of Snowdonia
