C2C/Pennine Way wild camping
« on: 09:21:25, 22/03/09 »
Odd one this but im killing 2 birds with one stone, sort of!

One mates doing the c2c, the other is doing Pennine way. Paths are scheduled to cross at Keld on the same day.

I would like to do both but can only get a 5 day pass this year.

So im thinking doing a day c2c to Keld then turn right and head north on the Pennine way.
if timing is wrong then carry onto Catterick on the c2c with mate one.

Whats the Keld to Catterick section like for wild camping. It seems to low level and Famland to just ditch n pitch?
Anyone wild camped the C2C

I camped in Gunnerside Gill a couple of weeks ago -(? probably not far enough from Keld, though.) There's a few flat and sheltered spots.
There are other discreet spots east of Surrender Bridge eg just a  bit further than the smelt mill and slightly off-route in a deep valley (the valley West of Surrender Bridge is full of flood debris and is hopeles for camping)  and off-route near Grinton Mill (near Reeth) and other spots on the way to Richmond. After Richmond, its a bit more agricultural, and, maybe a bit too military...
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
