I love the Lakes. I live in Kendal, on the doorstep. After 1st April we avoid much of the area due to the huge number of visitors, and turn our faces to the east, where it is generally less rammed. Personally I would avoid Wasdale on any public holiday. Just my opinion.

A local taxi company runs a minibus service (bookable) between the King's House and Glencoe viilage/Ballachulish which opens up more scope for accommodation. Pick up and return the next morning service.

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling stuff on here, though for some reason or other it just doesn't seem to have taken off.

It's got me thinking what I could offload to start the ball rolling. In the meantime - you just go for it!

Much of the West Highland Way is very well served by the West Highland Railway line which can open up a lot of possibilities for accommodation away from the actual route of the walk. We used to do quite a bit of "Station to Station" walking between Crianlarich and Fort William though the Kingshouse/Glencoe area will still present a problem. Camping by the burn at the Kingshouse used to be common and welcomed but I do not know whether this is still the case.

Did it last May
So lucky with the weather and not a midge in sight  :)

I hiked and camped over five days in the first week of April and it rained solidly for the first three days.  No midges though!  ;D

My wife is not averse to camping but she doesn't like the cold, and I don't like the midges (Beinglas in July a few years back were quite the worst that I have ever encountered), so May is our most likely month. No doubt there will be a fair number of people about, but no avoiding that - I'm just really pleased that my wife wants to do this.

You might find accommodation already very tight for May in some places.

Kingshouse is incredibly expensive, a premium for the location.  I just passed through and enjoyed a hot bowl of soup and a pint in the bar.  Unbelievable setting though.
