Outlying Fells -- Whitbarrow
« on: 09:09:36, 19/05/08 »
18th May 2008.

Wainwright in his book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland says of this walk that it "is the most beautiful walk in the book" and I won't disagree. It is one of my favourites which I've done many times and never tire of. Ideally it should be done from south to north so that Lakeland higher fells are in view as you walk along. The views are extensive, the Coniston & Langdales to the left, Fairfield and High Street ahead and the Howgills and Dales to the right. The walk even finishes with a little gem, the delightful hamlet of Beck Head and Mill Side.

The pictures for the walk are now available on the website.

Regards,

Dave

I was going to add that it's usually quite quiet up there too but seeing your last photo perhaps not last week.

Looks like you had a good day.
