I intend to walk the Cumbria Way in future and wanted to recce part of the walk to see what it is like. With the higher fells clagged in last Sunday, it made sense to walk valleys. I'd never visited Langstrath before so that became the obvious objective of the day. I got the 0911 service from Ambleside to ODG. Starting around 0945 I picked up the good track behind ODG. After crossing the bridge I made my way to Stake Pass, one of the high points on the CW. I descended into Langstrath valley and was taken aback by how quiet the valley was. I only encountered 8 other walkers as I made my way to Borrowdale. I arrived in Rosthwaite at 1241 before getting the 78 service back to Keswick one minute later. Timed to perfection
. Just over 7 miles.
