Cracking conditions and some nice pics.....  we have a family tradition concerning Penyghent, dating from the 1950's which involves a rite of passage for knipe sprogs climbing Penyghent from Dale Head when age about 6. This is followed by hot chocolate and teasted toecakes in the Penyghent café...and possibly followed-up by an exploration of Upper Long Churn caves as far as Dr Bannister's handbasin (depends on the weather!)  Several generations of knipes have completed this minor challenge and I have grandkids demanding to be allowed "Up the mountain". So, I've a soft spot for the hill - probably the hill I've climbed the most - on one occasion, on the crags on the West side, being belayed to a nurse (don't mention this to Mrs K by the way)...... and it was my first propah hill age 11.....  and teetering up there in the ice somewhat later.. and wild camps and bivis....  and all kinds of fun.
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles

Great pictures!  O0  Pen y Ghent is a beautiful peak any time of the year but it looks stunning clad in snow.

The mountain nearest to me, about 5 miles as the crow  flies. I used to think I had walked it 1000' s of times until someone pointed out my error. It IS in the 100 ' s.  Three years ago it was every single day from the January.
I have walked the lower flanks recently, but poor health has stopped any walking of over 5 miles.
Thanks for the photos, I'm missing me old mate 😯

Someone mentions Pendle and up pops the Fat Goat lol. Those pictures are deceiving and make the mountain look so lovely that one forgets how much of a git to walk up it can be :) I must do the three peaks again this year.

Cracking good photos. I remember going to the top in the the early 1980's. Not something I can do now due to health issues but would love to if I could.
These boots are made for walking.... so long as the rest of my body agrees
