I always base my walks around a forest at this time of time when the leaves display their autumnal glory. Last week-end saw me traverse the straightforward circular route of Donard Forest and Tullymore in the eastern Mournes. Starting from Donard park I picked up a good track through Donard Forest. After leaving the forest I walked across open moorland to Tullymore. Continuing on a good track I made my way towards a small lake and the meeting of the waters where two rivers combined. To add some variety, I picked up another track in the hope of obtaining a good vantage point for the Dromara Hills. Leaving Tullymore I returned through Donard Forest to the car park. Total distance was 6 miles.
