O0 Nice one... but even better if you'd capitalised 'street'.  :)

Beswick
has had a lot of regeneration .
I used to cycle through It On The SKYRIDE and was amazed at how much changed .

Mainly because of Man city's Etihad stadium , Sports city ,and the Veladrome

 :) Moving on...

About 5 miles along the coast to the east of Whitstable is the town of Herne Bay, which provides my next target.

I pass through Herne Bay at least once most weeks and, as with Whitstable, I like to see as much of the town and its various associated villages as possible.

When I start out towards the east on a local walk, I always do a circuit. On a short walk, I usually take country lanes to Herne, go though Herne Bay, and return along the coast. For a longer walk, I'll get at least as far as Reculver before returning along the coast - passing through Herne Bay on my way back.

This is the Google Earth map that shows my tracks in the Herne Bay area over the past three-and-a-half years. I've done the majority of streets, but there are still quite a few to go...

I'll post updated maps every so often.  8)

It's been over a year since I last updated this topic.  :(

Much as I was enjoying the occasional bit of town walking, especially during the off-season for walking, the pandemic caused me to stay well away from other people and so when I have ventured out, it was never to a town. In fact, I haven't walked down any high street or been near any town centre since last spring.

This morning though, I fancied walking along the coast between Herne Bay and Whitstable because it's been a while since I enjoyed the sea air. I knew I'd join the coast somewhere around the far end of Herne Bay, and it occurred to me just before I set off that I might add a few previously unwalked streets at the Beltinge end of the town.

Rather than plan a route or make notes, I tried to remember the names and approximate locations of the four streets I wanted to 'collect'. That's why my track at Beltinge is a bit convoluted!

To my surprise, I was successful. I remembered two of the four roads by name, and remembered the other two when they turned out to be roughly where I thought they would be.  :)

Having walked all four, I went to the coast and headed back towards Whitstable - 14 miles and home just in time for lunch.

There are only a very few roads in Herne Bay left to add to the map and I'll try to do them in the next few weeks.

Here's my up-to-date map for the Herne Bay area.  8)

(Note: I don't feel the need to do cul-de-sacs, although I sometimes do! The map also shows the footpaths I've walked as well.)

Some people 'walk the streets' in Portsmouth, loads of narrow streets and rows and rows of terraced housing, it would take a long time to complete it I think.

I also used to live in Beswick, Manchester, and although I haven't walked down all the streets, I, too, have walked down Every Street in Manchester

Search YouTube for 'Richard Vobes'

He shows how to get interest and satisfaction from short, easy walks in towns and the countryside

Also Search Google for 'urban walking and 'urban camping'

I suspect there has been more of this while the current restrictions are in place

I thought I remembered that name. I'd no idea who he is, but I once watched a video of him walking up Cadair Idris with his daughter. We were going to the area for a walking holiday and I'd googled Cadair Idris. If I recall correctly, it was his first mountain and they weren't very well prepared.
