Vanguard Way
« on: 19:45:39, 13/12/20 »
Hi,

As the darker days and the rain sets in I am planning a series of multi day walks to do next year, when hopefully things get a little more normal. Living in Kent I am looking for a few walks close to home and will be starting with the Weald Way. When looking over the route on OS I came across the Vanguard Way, a 66 miler but have never heard of it. Has anyone walked this route? Is it worth adding to list?

Any thoughts or advice welcome, thanks.

I've walked some stretches of the Vanguard Way in Sussex.  The Sussex section is similar to the Wealdway, both traversing the High and Low Weald and the South Downs.   A highlight of both trails are the rolling heathlands of Ashdown Forest. The Vanguard Way takes in Seaford Head, from which you get the iconic view of the Seven Sisters.

Another multi-day walk is the High Weald Landscape Trail in Sussex and Kent.

I'm a fan of the High Weald Trail, I did it a few years ago and particularly enjoyed the section between Horsmonden to Tenterden.

An Americam Lass living in Britain has published a series of Vlogs on her walk along the Vanguard Way this year.
