The TEST Way...
« on: 21:29:00, 01/11/17 »
Has anyone completed the Test Way ? Did you do it in one ? How was the route ? I panic about poor signage..
It's only 44 miles but any advice for a long walk first timer ?

Hi tenmilesplus,
We walked it in 2010 staying at pubs & B&B's.
We walked it from Southampton to InkPen.

Nice walk, signage is good, but best take maps or GPS stuff.
There are some very steep hills towards InkPen Beacon.

Explorer maps at 1:25,000 scale
158 (Newbury & Hungerford),
131 (Romsey, Andover & Test Valley),
OL22 (New Forest).

In the latter stages of planning we decided to extend the walk by going down the Wayfarer's from Inkpen Beacon to Portsdown Hill where the path goes pass my back garden :)

10m+

I walked it in 2012 from Inkpen to Totton, and camped along the way.
Few recognised campsites - but it is possible - I'll send details if you're interested.

Generally few navigation problems, but the way can be very wet south of Stocksbridge, and the phone coverage poor.

I've also done the Wayfarer's and live in Cosham - perhaps we could meet up at the George sometime?
