Hello from a New Member
« on: 10:25:55, 12/09/17 »
Hello everyone, I am going to be moving to the UK with my girlfriend in a month or two from Canada (she is from London, we met while travelling) and I would love to do some long distance hikes around the UK when we are there. So please forgive any ignorance it may seem that I have, I am just very very new.

Welcome to the forum and also to the UK soon  O0   I live in Essex just outside London but mostly walk up north in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria.
Desperately trying to escape and venture in the wild outdoors...

We don't 100% know where yet, but we will be moving to London. Possibly somewhere close to Vauxhall as her sister has a house there, but we might end up going on the outskirts for a while at first so we can save money on rent and I can make an easier transition. I grew up in a small town(actually it was a Hamlet) of 232 people so London is a HUUUGE step for me.

Wow, yes London is slightly bigger than that. It is a walk-able city though, if you spend a day walking through the parks from Kensington Gardens to Westminster and then head down the river to Tower Bridge you will have done all the tourist areas.

For any good walking you have to get away from London, I would have posted the same link as Gunwharfman, but look here for walks in and around the capital https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/walking/top-walking-routes I've walked the London Loop which makes for an interesting series of day walks, some better than others.
