Garmin GPSMAP 64s
« on: 11:46:54, 20/10/17 »
Morning all,

Just seeing if anybody has had any experience using a Garmin GPS Map 64s. Just thinking about buying a standalone device due to an unnerving episode whilst walking in a complete blanket of fog and mist when my smart phone loaded with viewranger was getting wet and was really reacting badly to the damp and wet on the screen. The drops on the screen was causing all kinds of strange things to happen, different apps were opening, when I tried to zoom in it was zooming out, ringing people.

I am aware of dry cases and the such like and i do carry an addition power source and back up phone as well as map and compass, but would be really keen to hear if anyone has used this garmin device before ?

Thanks

Ah yes,

We got this way back, Waterproof does not mean it's usable it seems.
I also thought (No proof though) that a touch screen dedicated device would be the same.
So buttons are a good idea.
Can't help you on the device though, just letting you know you're not alone.

I got one approx. 4 months ago, it takes a while to get used to but its very useful has a backup.
Only down side is its small screen compared to I phone ect.
Make sure you use good rechargeable batteries too I bought 2 ever ready ones and it drains quite quickly.

I've used Sony Eneloops for years. Great performance although expensive.
