Brecon Beacons so far this year
« on: 23:40:06, 24/07/18 »
For various reasons we made a late start on our visits to the Brecon Beacons this year, finally getting going with a walk up Tor y Foel from Llangynidr on what then seemed to us like a swelteringly hot day in May, but was probably quite mild by current standards.

My youngest and I then intended to sleep out on Pen y Fan at the start of June. We had an easy walk up "the motorway" and a beautiful sunset but he then got very cold and we had to bail out and head back down in the moonlight.

The other day I thought I would make up for missing out on the sunrise and enjoy a walk at a cooler time of day by walking up the same easy route in the dark but the weather had other ideas. When I got to the top I faced a wall of cloud - though I did then get some great "dragon's breath" photos.

I did try inserting the photos but something went wrong and they all disappeared so I'm afraid you'll have to make do with links to the blog.

I enjoyed those Claire, thank you.

Loved the contrast between the lush greenery and the moody low cloud in the two sets of Pen Y Fan photos.
