Nearly new member !
« on: 12:57:14, 26/07/20 »
About 10 minutes ago seeking advice on boot sizing I thought I would check this forum out. It was only then that I remembered that I was actually a member of it & yet had never left either a Hello message or any subsequent messages.
So I just want to finally say hello to everyone.
Having moved to Eastbourne nine years ago I have had easy access to the South Downs but being a road cyclist and motorcyclist I have only walked part of them ( Seven Sisters ) a couple of times.
Even though I cycle I seem to have put on too much weight and the best way to lose it is in my opinion is by walking.
So new boots brought ( hence original investigation ) + my first ever Trekking Poles ( well its been some time since we have been to the Lakes & the joints these days are tender) this morning 5.30 am  I set off over the Downs .
And what a great morning it was. I won't go into detail as you all know what I mean anyway.
I had forgotten just how great walking is and after this experience I can see at least my motorbike getting sold.
After my morning walk I was expecting this afternoon to be relaxing but I will now be clambering into our loft to get our tent & equipment out to check. I can already see the credit card coming out.
Funny how as we get older we appreciate more the simple things in life & I just feel lucky that I can still enjoy a good walk.
Regards to all Ted

Thanks BM - I love Scotland ( not worried if you do get independence , as long as you still let me in ) & had a great friend in Fort William.
Thanks GWM - We are both lucky to have them so near us aren't we.

Welcome from Hove    :)    We are lucky having the South Downs so close. They are where  I do a lot of my walking.
